Job Description
Summary:

This position is responsible for helping drive adherence to GAAP accounting and developing and maintaining a strong internal control environment. The Controller will have an instrumental role in setting accounting policy, completion of month-end close, execution of the year-end audit and researching accounting issues. This position will report to the CFO.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Hires, trains and mentors accounting staff. Responsible for AR, AP and General Accounting departments.
  • Ensures all accounting is handled in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepares materials for the company's external auditors
  • Oversees the preparation and evaluation of financial operating reports; and presents finding and recommendations to senior management
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries
  • Performs corporate financial/statutory reporting process
  • Supervises and prepares general ledger reconciliations and performs account analysis
  • Examine, review, analyze and interpret accounting records in preparation of issuance of financial statements
  • Coordinates the monthly, quarterly and annual close functions, ensuring that all transitions are booked in a timely manner and in accord with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Works with external auditors as part of the close process
  • Directs and integrates changes in processes into the account systems and accounting cycle

  • Must demonstrate organization and prioritization skills to manage time
  • Experienced professional with high standards of excellence and adherence to deadlines
  • Self-starter able to function effectively in a fast-paced growing company and adapt to change
  • Strong financial modeling ability for utilization in budget and forecasting processes
  • Ability to synthesize various, independently generated data points into a cohesive analysis

Education and Experience:

Education: BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related discipline or equivalent work experience

Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Preferred: CPA is required, public accounting experience is strongly desired

Previous experience in Great Plains Software

Process improvement experience

Strong internal controls background
