Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a full-time Clinical Medical Physicist to join a group of five radiation oncology centers located in the Denton, TX clinic at 2600 Scripture Rd Denton, Texas 76201. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country and has approximately 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. Our founders pioneered community-based cancer care because they believed in making the best available cancer care accessible to all communities, allowing people to fight cancer at home with the critical support of family and friends nearby. Our mission is still the same today-at Texas Oncology, we use leading-edge technology and research to deliver high-quality, high-touch, evidence-based cancer care to help our patients achieve "More breakthroughs. More victories." in their fight against cancer. Today, Texas Oncology treats half of all Texans diagnosed with cancer on an annual basis.

Facilities and Equipment

While operationally independent day-to-day, each center collaborates as five fully staffed, Texas Oncology clinics in the North Dallas area (McKinney, Plano West, Denison, Denton and Flower Mound) through sharing of a common, single database for record and verify, Eclipse treatment planning (conventional and SRS/SBRT), Rad Calc 2nd check program, Profiler, MapCheck3, SNC Routine, and 3D scanning system.

We are in the midst of upgrading treatment and imaging equipment. Six Varian linacs, three Nucletron micorSelectron HDRs, two Nucletron Flexitron HDRs, three GE CTs, two PET/CTs and 2 mobile PET/CTs are used to treat an average of 160-170 patients a day at the five sites.

The Team:

Combined, the fully staffed region will consist of five board certified radiation oncologists, eight ABR certified physicists, six certified medical dosimetrists, thirteen radiation therapists, and five chief therapists.

As an integral part of Texas Oncology, you will appreciate the opportunity to corroborate with other network physicists who are eager to share their expertise. Texas Oncology also provides many vendor webinars, its own journal club and the opportunity to serve on committees.

This position would be based in Denton which boasts top-scale restaurants, manicured golf courses, and a progressive style typically found in large cities while the surrounding communities highlight the small-town friendly atmosphere. Candidate will also cover one additional pod site part of the week and coverage to the North Dallas POD sites as needed.

Responsibilities

Preferred Experience:

  • Eclipse, and Oncentra treatment planning systems
  • HDR planning and treatment.
  • ARIA ROIS
  • SBRT and SRS procedures


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have

  • CAMPEP Accredited Residency Program in Medical Physics
  • Valid Texas Medical Board license or board eligible
  • American Board of Radiology certification or board eligible
  • Preferred two years of experience as a certified medical physicist
  • Working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, and HDR
  • Experience with Varian linear accelerators
  • Experience with Eclipse Planning system
  • Experience with Oncentra Planning system
  • Strong organization and oral / written communication skills

Candidate will primarily work at the Denton, Tx provide support to other POD sites, as needed.
