Looking for a Business Development Specialist II

The Business Development Specialist II assists in maintaining and expanding a market presence for SSR through consistent connection with market contacts and clients and researching new connections, leads, and other sources for new business. Administers, coordinates, and executes specific business development activities and tasks across the Program in alignment with the overall strategy and serves as a resource to others who hold key client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a defined business network through consistent connections to market contacts and existing clients, gathering information about potential projects early enough such that SSR can maximize positioning for consideration
  • Identifies potential client targets and works toward securing introductions and seeking new relationships
  • Participates in professional and industry organizations, conferences, and trade shows to foster existing relationships, establish new contacts, and generally increase SSR's market presence
  • Develops background research on markets and potential clients as well as information on leads and other projects
  • Assists Client Relationship Managers in developing and maintaining their business development plan
  • Enters lead opportunities into Client Relationship Management (CRM) database and directly follows up on leads to determine and maintain viability
  • Interfaces with marketing support staff on requested marketing materials to meet needs of existing and potential clients
  • Identifies and develops strategic alliances in target markets
  • Provides regular business development reports of connections made through the CRM database
  • Administers and reviews the business development strategies for the Program, including organizing, documenting performance, refining details, and keeping contact files
  • Participate in client strategy development meetings, marketing planning, and presentation planning
  • Assists in the coordination of informational presentations and other means to educate clients/prospects and their communities on SSR's services
  • Performs special projects and other business-related duties as requested

An ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or related field OR combination of equivalent experience
  • Eight years of experience in customer service, marketing, sales, or public relations
  • ACE industry experience a must.
  • Healthcare experience preferred;

  • Must know pursuit process, strategy planning, & good relationship building

  • 30-40% travel within the state.

  • Experience in construction or engineering preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of project selection processes, how proposals are vetted, and different procurement approaches
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and markets SSR serves
  • Knowledge of business financials and accounting practices
  • Knowledge of marketing and sales practices
