  • Development and adherence to Preventive Maintenance Schedule

  • Development and adherence to System Upgrades, Testing, Patching Schedules

  • Development and achievement of Annual Continuous Improvement KPIs

  • Development and achievement of annual investments strategy (expense + capital)

Primary Responsibilities.

  • Scoping and development, validation, and sustaining engineering activities on automation equipment on site. The engineer will help identify and lead capital automation improvement projects, process qualifications for automation solutions, and process/efficiency/production improvements.

  • Responsible for identifying, leading, and implementing semi and automated solutions on the site to improve product quality and operational efficiency in partnership with operations and other key stakeholders.

  • Primary point of contact on system related issues, own issue resolution and follow-up with relevant groups- vendors, IT, etc.

  • Partner closely with other engineering functions and maintenance to resolve automation issues, failures, or repairs. This includes the diagnosis of all aspects of automated equipment from mechanical systems, electrical systems, software systems and control systems.

  • Position will lead site effort to ensure automated equipment has redundancy with programs and backups to programs.

  • Lead engineer for implementation of process control solutions through the use of automation.

  • Set aggressive project improvement goals, and plan, track and drive the implementation to achieve those goals.

  • Developing process control strategies for process technologies.

  • Conduct commissioning and startup activities along with creation and execution of equipment validation protocols.

  • Deliver the identified value and meet the agreed upon project milestones.

  • Coordinate with engineering and management team to maintain and design automation systems.

  • Provide budgetary costs for assembly systems and upgrades.

  • Identify, cost justify, implement, and manage new manufacturing systems and equipment to improve productivity.

  • Take a systematic approach to process optimization and problem solving.

  • Defines, produces and implements documents including standard work and process work instructions.

  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine interfaces (HMI) programming.

  • Performs all duties and directs others creating a safe working environment for our employees and our communities.

  • Performs other duties as necessary.

  • Manage automation and equipment projects from conceptual design, capital expenditure approval, management of integration suppliers, factory/site acceptance, and validation and production release.

  • Provides project leadership and supervision, including project team management, for assigned automation, equipment, and software projects.

  • Responsible for validation activities on assigned projects including Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, Software Qualification, and Performance Qualification.

  • Identify, justify and implement technology and equipment upgrades, new product and process technologies, and process improvements utilizes improved technology.

  • Understand basic requirements of design control during product and/or process development projects.

  • Develop and document work instructions, and job aids to facilitate training. Provide technical training of equipment to operators, maintenance, and sustaining engineers.

  • Manage multiple contractors to support site activities.

  • Utilizes automation process knowledge and investigational skills to identify and resolve automation issues and drive continuous improvement in process operations.

  • Partakes in cross functional teams to drive complex investigation close outs, determine root causes and implement appropriate corrective and preventive action Maintain and Improve Systems.

  • Builds cross-functional relationships and enhances relationships with team members.

  • Meet with Operations Management regularly to discuss goals, planning, and progress.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records.

  • Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices as required

  • Develop maintenance documentation, training programs, and lead this training in pertaining to automation systems.

  • Establish test plans and control test plan execution.

  • Lead efforts to implement corrective actions for breakdowns and chronic equipment failure.

  • Partner with both internal and external application teams and the Operations team to develop upgrade, patching and testing schedules and ensure execution against schedule. Act as subject matter expert in design of similar systems in other facilities and assist in training new team members as needed.

Requirements.

  • PLC operation & programming experience to include working knowledge of WCS systems, WES and WMS applications.

  • Hands-on experience building & debugging mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Control & power panel designs.

  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking skills.

  • Familiarity with machine safety applications, electrical power distribution and control panel design.
