Job Description

The Instructional Designer roles supports firmwide learning and development initiatives through the creation and maintenance of learning content including videos, job aids, and other learning resources to support operations, architecture, and civil engineering sectors. Works under the supervision of the Learning and Development Manager. Partners with subject-matter experts (SMEs) and collaborates with team members to meet operational goals.

Role Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Strong Project Management Skills
  • In-depth understanding of instructional design models and learning theories.
  • Conducts research and collaborates with subject matter experts.
  • Partners with cross functional teams to develop and design learning assets and resources.
  • Creates immersive educational experiences for a variety of firm audiences.
  • Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content to match learners' needs.
  • Keeps current on best practices and technology developments in instructional design.


Education & Experience

  • 5-7 years instructional design and corporate experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport face-to-face and remotely.

  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Technical editing/writing experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong experience in executing projects with multiple internal groups.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam.

  • Competencies include time management, relationship building, teamwork, communication, consultative partnering, technical writing, and organization.


  • Cooperative attitude, practical and solution focused.

  • Flexible and creative.

  • LMS authoring tools, video editing software, Microsoft products, Adobe Creative Cloud.


  • Background in architecture, engineering, construction, or related fields would be an asset.
