The Sr. Director of Data Strategy and Analytics serves as the organization's central authority on all data-related initiatives, including business intelligence (BI) and reporting, data governance, data and reporting strategy, and automation.The Sr. Director ensures the organization's data systems are accessible, accurate, and strategically leveraged to provide actionable insights Leading a team of data engineers and analysts, the Sr. Director plays a pivotal role in developing data frameworks, reports, and analytical tools that support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the Sr. Director is responsible for ensuring data accuracy and managing comprehensive data governance, positioning themselves as the definitive source of truth for all data-related matters. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise and strategic vision, capable of steering the organization towards operational excellence and competitive advantage through data.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the execution of the organization's data strategy, aligning data-related initiatives with the broader business goals to support growth and innovation
  • Develop and implement advanced BI tools and reporting systems, ensuring they are designed to meet the strategic and operational needs of the organization
  • Establish and uphold rigorous reporting standards and practices, guaranteeing consistency, accuracy, and reliability across all data reports and analyses
  • Work collaboratively with department leaders to understand their data requirements, creating tailored views and dashboards that drive strategic and tactical decisions
  • Cultivate a team of BI analysts and data engineers, mentoring them towards excellence and fostering a culture geared towards strategic innovation and continuous improvement
  • Spearhead data governance initiatives to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and quality, thereby supporting reliable BI and reporting processes
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to gather BI requirements, communicate data capabilities, and deliver strategic reporting solutions that add significant value
  • Remain abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in BI, reporting, and data strategy, applying insights to continually advance the organization's data capabilities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Advanced degree in technical field, or equivalent experience as an Analytics practitioner
  • At least 7 years of experience in a data-focused role
  • 2-3 years of experience in managing a team of data professionals and preference for experience in Consulting, Strategy or Data Strategy roles
  • Strong foundation in data management practices, including governance, quality control, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with data reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and familiarity with database management systems and SQL along with R and Python
  • Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, BigQuery, Google Analytics, AWS, and other related platforms
  • Proven ability to oversee complex data systems and processes, with a focus on maintaining accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Solid understanding of data automation techniques and tools to streamline data workflows.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, capable of managing a team and collaborating with various organizational departments
  • Experience in the Online Program Management and / or Higher Education sectors preferred
