Job Summary
The School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at UT Dallas has an opening for a Laboratory Manager to join the (PI: ).

The Lab Manager is expected to lead, implement, conduct, and analyze studies under the supervision of the principal investigator (PI) and provide research support for key laboratory personnel. This specific position will work on understanding human high-level perception using computational models and neuroimaging methods.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field. A minimum of two years experience with lab equipment and related facilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, psychology, cognitive science, EE, neuroscience, or a related field
  • Strong technical background with solid coding skills, ideally in Python, Javascript, and MATLAB
  • Technical knowledge of human neuroimaging techniques (e.g. fMRI) and experience with statistical data analysis
  • Experience with online data collection and/or human neuroimaging data collection.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:

Technical Duties (50%):
  • Write scripts with scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, Javascript, MATLAB) and use deep neural networks (e.g., AlexNet, VGG) to implement stimuli preparations, experiment design, and analyses
  • Build and maintain the lab database creation pipeline
  • Develop and maintain the lab fMRI data collection and quality check pipeline
  • Analyze behavioral and fMRI data using standard software packages
  • Provide technical support for key laboratory personnel
Experimental Duties (20%):
  • Recruit, schedule, consent, run, and pay participants in online, in-person behavioral and in-person fMRI studies
  • Responsible for the careful documentation of the pipelines, experimental procedures, and results
  • Summarize and present research results
  • Contribute to writing manuscripts describing research studies
Administrative Duties (30%):
  • Update and maintain documentation on laboratory policies, procedures, and resources in the lab manual/wiki
  • Perform software and hardware maintenance and housekeeping on lab electronics
  • Purchase supplies, equipment, and services for the lab
  • Schedule lab meetings and other lab events
  • Help recruit, manage, and train undergraduate research assistants
  • Draft modifications and continuing reviews for IRB protocols
  • Promote personnel, experiments, and papers on lab website and use lab social media accounts
  • Other duties as assigned
