Summary:

The Department Manager is directly responsible for the business operations and development of the department. This position is also responsible for the management of the revenue cycle, purchasing, contract review and compliance. This position utilizes immediate complex critical decision-making skills daily. This position must maintain ability to multitask, direct, and supervise over 100 employees in a 24/7 dynamic, fast paced, patient focused environment.

Additionally, they are responsible for insuring that the department is in compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements and hospital business standards through a rigorous monitoring program. The manager will represent the department through collaboration on multidisciplinary teams, vendors and others in the Cook Children's Health System, and evaluate new business strategies designed to improve patient throughput and enhance revenue streams. Increase point of service collections and enhance patient satisfaction with access services.

This position is responsible for developing operational efficiencies that will provide for safe patient care, as well as maximizing the value of hospital resources. Manager works closely with other departments to get services authorized with required time frames to provide for maximum reimbursement and avoid denials. This position reports to the department director and the AVP of the Revenue Cycle.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred

  • 6 Years healthcare experience in Patient Access in a hospital setting

  • 2 years of hospital patient access supervisory or a lead worker position in patient access in a hospital setting

  • Excellent human relations skills Proficient in Microsoft products
