Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to join our team in Southlake, Texas! The successful candidate will perform field surveys and create survey maps that meet client requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the field-to-finish workflow of the survey team thoroughly.
  • Manipulate and process data to make it suitable for import into AutoCAD database as needed.
  • Understand and follow the company's standard CAD procedures and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.
  • Assist with property and utility records research as needed.
  • Produce field package for survey field crews as needed.
  • Perform first-level QA/QC tasks, using provided checklist to check produced survey product for quality / completion.
  • Maintain a priority-based to-do list of tasks to be completed according to urgency.
  • Provide brief daily update email to manager outlining jobs worked on / tasks completed.
  • Participate in fieldwork on a part-time basis, as required to accomplish tasks assigned by the project surveyor. This responsibility will likely lessen as the office grows to hire full-time field crews.
  • Willing to adapt to more efficient workflows as they become available.
  • Willing to learn new software and processes for processing fieldwork as needed.
  • Accept ownership of work, ensuring accuracy, completeness, quality, and thoroughness of results.
  • Address assignments of increased difficulty as proficiency is increased.

*Additional Duties If Applicable*

  • Willing and able to work an average of two days out of the week in the field as part of a survey crew.
  • Perform office duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks, staking computations, and drafting for survey maps.
  • Research courthouse records for deeds, titles, and chain of titles as needed.
  • Ensure survey work meets company and client standards.
  • Maintain familiarity with currently accepted standards and methods of survey.
  • Communicate pain-points causing efficiency / quality problems with manager to be addressed when possible.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree preferred, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with a focus on survey database manipulation and DTM surface generation.
  • Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge, and acumen (specifically in Microsoft Excel as used for survey data manipulation, file directory management and organization in Microsoft Windows).
  • Aptitude for technical and mathematic competency.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Experience with survey equipment and associated processing software is desirable.
  • OSHA 10 hours of safety certification required. Training will be provided by CED if candidate does not possess it already.
